Trashcan Turkey

Oh wow - it's been over a week since I last posted. Crapola - the time goes by so fast!

Hannah starts school tomorrow and I start my first real day of work. Last week, I worked for 3 days but it was just cleaning and training on the new fangled cash registers and computer program the school has. It's actually pretty neat because it's all done by touch screen, instead of keystrokes. It is mouse driven as well but I find the touchscreen easier to use. Tomorrow is the first day with students there and I'm with the high schoolers..... gulp. I hope they take it easy on an old lady like myself.

Camp was fun this weekend. Regina and Rodney outdid themselves with their famous Trashcan Turkey. I know, I know, you're all excited to see what the heck I'm talking about and I promise you pictures, but first I need to talk about squealers. You know.... those people who have nothing better to do than to find things to complain about. It seems that Gary, Hannah and I are the owner of a dog that is socially dysfunctional. Can you even fathom this? Yes, someone complained about our dog to the owners of the campground. It seems that when they (the complainers) are walking past our site, they find Chloe's barking offensive and aggressive. Chloe, bless her, is just being a dog. She's alerting the rest of the pack (Gary, Hannah & I) that a stranger is coming near. It's not like she's barking, non-stop, for a long time. A few RUFF, RUFF, RUFF's is all it is and then they pass and she shuts up. Oh well....um whatever. I guess we'll work on that or hunt down whoever it was that complained and really give them something to complain about. I find it funny that our drunken stupidness doesn't offend them but our dog yipping a couple times at them, does?

This is the trashcan turkey as it's flaming. Rest assured, all the galvinizing has been previously burned off the trashcan (I specifically asked Regina about this). It's really quite a nifty idea.

The men standing around doing whatever it is that men do when they stare at a trashcan.

Here's the turkey when done and the trashcan removed.

Randy wanted nothing to do with any condiments.... he just wanted to gnaw on the carcass.

Hannah was having a fit to be tied because she couldn't pedal her bike. After finding out what the problem was, Rodney and Gary had to do some quick bikechain repairs.

After eating, we enjoyed a wonderful campfire.

Did I miss something? What job? I read/check your site everyday and I have seen no mention of a job, so you must be holding out on us.

very cool to find someone else who does this. most people look quite askance at us when we describe the process.

Squealers, or miserable assholes as I call them, are so annoying. How do people like that function in day to day life?

I have never seen that done to a turkey. It looks delicious. I love the picture of the men being manly and watching the flaming can.

I hope you have a great day at work! (what's this work?)

I hope your first day goes well!! (I thought you worked with Gary??)

Looks like camp was fun and that turkey looks yummy, even if it was cooked in a trash can ;-).

You'll do great! You have a sparkling personality so the kids will love you -- even HSers!

That turkey is such a wacky idea. Is it fried or just burned?
