Here is the nest they were guarding. I'm amazed at their intricate twig construction:

An Indigo Bunting that I saw on the ground at dusk. I had to take the photo using the flash so he looks almost iridescence. Cool, huh?

And finally, my favorite, the loon. We came upon a pair staying close to the shore so we know they were nesting too. Loons make the most amazing sounds. If you've never heard one..... I've included a clip of a loon call. It's an unforgettable, haunting sound.

very cool pics. in the last few years bald eagles have been getting reestablished in our area and it's a bit of a thrill to see them. loon call was neat too. thanks!
Awesome pictures!
What purty birdies....espeically that bunting thingy. There were tons of loons out this week-end. I don't think I've every seen so many at once. You can get real close to them in the kayak too...I love to listen to them.
Very cool pictures!
I love the one of the bunting. So very pretty.
Sheri, I wrote this to you on the last post:
Sheri, sounds heavenly. Hey, whilst taking pictures, think you could take a detailed pic of the orange feeder you made? I have a new friend (hummingbird) who's been visiting my sliding glass door every day. I actually ran out and bought a hummingbird feeder with nectar for the little guy, but now I want to give him a real treat. I'd really appreciate it!!
Who needs National Geographic?? Thank you.
Beautiful pictures Sheri!!!
Awesome shots, Sheri! Don't think I'm going to make it to Maine this summer like I usually do -- that loon call will help tide me over til next year.
