Said the Spider to the Fly.....

Image hosted by Photobucket.comFound this picture somewhere online and thought it was neat. What caption would you apply to this photo?

In reading my blog over the past few posts, I've noticed that that tone is a little depressed. Do you think? I think it had something to do with all the rain we had. The entire month of May was pretty much a wash-out. Every single weekend, it rained.

Yesterday , I attempted to set Hannah's pool up. She has one of the Easy-Set pools....12' in diameter and about 3' deep. Nothing spectacular but it sure will cool you off on a hot day. By the way, whoever named it Easy-Set ought to have some sort of slow torture done on them. The box should have lots of disclaimers on it.

  • Not responsible for divorce proceedings caused by the set-up of this pool.
  • Do not consume alcohol while assembling this product.
  • Do not attempt to set-up during newly hatched black fly and mosquito season.
  • Stepping on a rake left tines up (on purpose, me thinks) can hurt your face.

Anyway, what should have been an enjoyable process turned ugly very quickly. See, my hubby thinks he knows everything. Yes, I admit, he does know alot BUT not everything. He obviously hasn't learned that ordering me around when I'm 2 nerves short of erupting is not a good thing. I asked him for one little glance to make sure I had the ground level and the next thing I know he's barking out orders like a drill sergeant...."go get the hose", "move that over there", "move this over here" and "take your shoes off and get in there and get those wrinkles out". People, this is early June in Maine. The water coming out of the ground is one, tiny degree short of glacier ice and it hurts your feet. So here I am, on stumps of frozen feet pushing wrinkles out of the liner of the pool, swearing and mumbling under my breath. I left the water running for a couple hours (we have a well) and I think we drew it down below a heavy vein of water. Hannah looked out the window and said "Mom, it looks like someone peed in the pool!" Oh yes, it's ground water but first it had to stir up any sediment in the well, thus bringing that into the pool. What a lovely brownish color. Hopefully, some chlorine and Shock can handle it.

Wow...sounds like fun. Those disclaimers should be on anything with more then 3 parts...or of course....men could just read the god damned directions first.

It's not the fact that men won't read directions, its that they don't believe them until they try every other way possible first.

When the trauma wears off I hope you guys enjoy the pool. LOL

You always amaze me, the things you come up with! The instructions to doing anything should have that disclaimer, that is for sure. When we do pre-marital counseling we always talk about things like this. Sometimes it's not the big obstacles but the daily, niggling frustrations that make marriage hard. You amaze me though in how you handle them... enjoy your pool!!!!

As to the kitty in the birdfeeder, it reminds me of a story of when my friend Bonnie was working in a pet store. This woman came in and bought a 50 lb. bag of wild bird seed and a 5 lb. bag of cat food. Bonnie asked the woman if she threw the seed out and then started calling "Here kitty, kitty, kitty?"

Aaahhh... the joys of setting up a pool. :) I remember that from when I was little. I didn't care how the pool got up, just get it up so I can get in it!!
