Bad Barney!

Here it is Friday again already. Would someone please (insert copiuos amounts of whining here) slow down time?? The days are whizzing by so fast. But - how can I be sad about that when I hear stuff like this:

Hound dog mauls Elvis's teddy bear

LONDON (Reuters) - Barney the guard dog went berserk at a teddy bear exhibition in England and ripped the stuffing out of Elvis Presley's beloved bear Mabel, exhibitors said on Thursday.

Wookey Hole Caves, a popular holiday destination in Somerset, southern England, was drawing children with its display of 1,000 precious teddy bears, including Mabel, beloved bear of the King of Rock and Roll. But, said General Manager Daniel Medley, it all went horribly wrong.

The collection was so valuable that the insurance company insisted the exhibitors guard it with dogs. Barney, a sleek and handsome Dobermann, was dutifully dispatched.

"The security guard was doing his normal patrols at the site. He let the dog in, and the dog went on a rampage," Medley told Reuters. "He started with Mabel, took a very large chunk out of Mabel almost severing her head, and then went mad. It took about 20 minutes to bring him out." Dozens of other bears were shredded too.

Mabel is the property of Sir Benjamin Slade, a local aristocrat, who says he paid 40,000 pounds ($75,000) at auction for the bear. Sir Benjamin is "hopping mad," confessed Medley.

As for Barney, "he's going to be retired to a farm where he can chase chickens," Medley said. "We've told the security company we don't want anything nasty to happen to Barney, but we don't want him back."

All I know is that this story (although sad for the owners of the bears) had me roaring with laughter. I can just picture that dog going ape-shit and ripping those bears apart. Maybe Barney didn't like all those beady little eyes staring at him?

Even more horrifying to me was the realization that this picture of chaos and destruction resembles Hannah's bedroom everyday.

I think Barney and Chloe would make great friends.

I was all set to tell you how much I was containing an all out giggle... then I read the last sentence of your post and the giggle was no longer contained -- nor was it a giggle anymore!

You are truly hilarious. I get your sense of humor, or should I say, your sense of humor hits me square in my funny bone.

my question is...why wasn't mabel in a locked glass box? it's the king baby, the king! =) i'd rather live on a farm than be a guard dog anyways. woof.

Isn't it just logic that you don't put a dog alone in a room with stuffed animals? That's like letting a wolf guard a hen house.

Maybe Mabel still had a little cocaine smell to her and Barney used to be a drug dog.
