Angry Seas of a Nor'Easter

We woke up this morning to ferocious wind and rain. The leaves have almost all been blown off the trees, as well as any twig that couldn't hang on any longer. I also think my grill cover might be in the woods. Gary grilled last night and we all know HE NEVER PUTS THE COVER ON WHEN DONE. I took this first picture on my way home from the bank this morning. I would hate to be a boater out on the sea today. The rain is actually coming down sideways. Have you ever seen sideways rain? An umbrella is useless except as a wind buffer. The rain just blows under it. It's a good day to stay inside and cook soup. I did ride by King George's house to make sure it was ok and all looks well out at Walkers Point. Here's a picture of his house in case you were wondering.

We taught Hannah to play Dominoes and Bunco and we have created a monster. Both of these games are easy for kids to learn. Dominoes does require skill and she has quickly mastered that. Bunco is purely luck and she's beaten my ass at it every time.

Last night we played Go Fish. I had no idea there was strategy to this game, did you? According to Gary there is. I have my 7 dealt cards, pull out the matches and start 'fishing' for the remainders. Gary is fishing from me and I am fishing from Hannah. He asks me for a 4 three times in a row . I asked Hannah for a 6, she says no. I draw a card... it's a 5. I match it with the 5 in my hand. When it's Gary's turn, he asks me for a 4. "Gary - for Christ's sake, how many times are you going to ask me for a 4?" I ask him. "I just asked for a 6 and drew a 5 match. What would make you think a 4 materialized in my hand since the last time you asked? " "well," he explains, "This way, Hannah doesn't know what I have in my hand if I keep asking for the same thing." Call me stupid but I don't get his logic AT ALL. All I know is that he never wins at Go Fish. Probably his dumb strategy he keeps on using. Here's Hannah kicking ass at Go Fish:

I just noticed your blogroll...we have lots of "friends" in common!
The photos you posted of the weather are somehow very soothing. I'm weird like that.

I loved playing Go Fish as a kid but haven't played since. Sounds like a good time though!

Hope your storm passes quickly.

I think that Go Fish is just OVER Gary's head...so he pretends to have a strategy.
