A Very Special Day

I couldn't let today go by without speaking about my anniversary. 21 years today. It's hard to believe we've been together that long because the years have literally flown by. He's just as special to me as the day I married him. Now there's a story for the books. When we went to get our license in Greenville, the town clerk had to sheepishly say that Gary wasn't legally divorced yet...so she couldn't sell us a license. If you could have seen me crying and throwing a fit. Especially after my brother Shawn had decided that he too was going to get married that day because all the family was already there. Oh why didn't everyone just rain on my parade?? I remember that at the time, this was such a tragedy to me and I couldn't think of anything more horrible happening. Now...21 years later I can see how silly it was to get so upset. Over the years, things have happened that our wedding day pales in comparison to but through it all.....here we are. Happy and still together and looking forward to the next 21 years!

p.s. We did legally get married on April 6th in a funeral home by a J.O.P (who was the funeral director). Our witness was watching a baseball game and couldn't be bothered to even pay attention. There was a viewing going on in the next room.

That is a riot about your official "wedding". You should send that in to Hollywood, it sounds like something off Seinfeld or Friends. I remember that Ariel ruined your wedding by crying through most of it. But you are right, the wedding is such a tiny minute part of the marriage when you look back at it. Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary!! I've been married for 1.25 years. I can't believe it's been over a year, so I won't know what to do when 21 years go by.

Congratulations to you!! :)

Congratulations! Married in a funeral home? That is a story for the ages I think! Boo and I just celebrated our 3 month anniversary on Sunday. He bought me roses! I am always happy to see marriages that make it, and yours looks like one of those! All the best to you and your family!
