Diggin' It

Hannah's birthday went well. For her birthday supper, she requested macaroni n'cheese and a steak...."thick like Dad makes them." Gary was tickled silly that she wanted steak and not chicken nuggets or pizza. He can cook a mean ribeye. Thanks for all your well wishes to her!

We are going to camp this weekend and hopefully not coming home til Wednesday morning. I just hope the weather is nice. Honestly, it can't get much worse..... we've had so much rain and blech here lately.

Hannah is enjoying summer rec so far. I, on the other hand, encountered a few more gray hairs today. When I picked her up this afternoon, she was out on the playground, diligently digging a giant, deep hole. Seriously, she was up past her elbows in this hole and very proud of it. I envisioned someone stepping into this hole and breaking their leg. "Who the hell dug this hole in the middle of the playground?" the police would want to know, scribbling in their report book. "Hannah did, sir! I saw her digging it!" all the kids would rat her out. I kicked the dirt back into it after she started walking away towards the car. Prior to this, I had gone inside to see if she was there and saw this sight: a bunch of kids dancing to loud hip hop on the classroom chair seats and then putting a foot on the top of the back of the chair and pushing until the chair crashed onto it's back on the floor, at which point the child stepped off or fell off.... I wasn't sure. I didn't say anything to the 18 year old ninnycom-poop watching the kids and kicked myself in the ass for not doing so. I did speak to the director who assured me that she would go over there immediately and speak to them. I'm glad to see that our hard earned tax dollars spent on classroom furniture was hard at work.

Have fun at camp! Hope the weather is good for you. Rec sounds like a blast, why didn't they anything like that when we were kids?

Glad Hannah's bday went well!! My son has a new love for steak too ;-).

FYI, I was listening to the comedy channel on XM radio last week and there was a comedian on talking about people from Maine and their affinity for going 'up-ta-camp' and I thought of you! ;-)

How do you cook your steaks? We do our 'birthday steaks' on the Big Green Egg. Yummm!!

By the way, can you tell me how to do a '2,996' picture link like yours? I've already got my 'person', but I would like to have a permanent link. (I'm still a newbie to blogging and html...I'd appreciate the help! Thanks!)
