After a bit, I went outside with Hannah and took a walk around the house. I was fully expecting to have some mosquitoes out.... it was that warm... but I was mistaken. What I didn't expect to see was this:
These are our tulips which have totally lost their minds. They've been fooled by Mother Nature and there's nothing I can do to help them. I'm wondering what effect this will have on them in the real Spring arrives? Do any of you know?
I had some comments on my previous post regarding my older brother and what happened to him. In a nutshell (and I'll post more on it another time): He and my dad parted ways when I was 9 years old. My brother lived with my uncle until he graduated from high school and then he went to college for a bit. After college, he started a painting business, got married, had kids, got a divorce, remarried and had more kids. He and my dad did reconcile after many years. I don't which of them made the first move and it doesn't matter, I'm just glad they did. I always like to think that if my dad could relive that time in his life, he would have done things differently. Maybe tried to work it out instead of throw him out. They don't talk of what happened and it's very sad to me to think of all those years wasted by both of them. I do see my brother occasionally but the family closeness is not there like it is with my other siblings.

Hey girl!
You got a mention in my Say It Sunday post...mostly because I, too, planned on discussing the weather--so, I gave you a shout out because I read your post before recording mine.
Thank you for sharing more about your family. We all have such rich (albeit troubling, at times) histories to share, but not everyone has the courage to do so. I bow to your bravery ;)
Ok, nighty night time for me. I cleaned out my bedroom today and I am sore and tired, but it's a good feeling, ya know?
Have a great night!
M.
Yea it is the same here and I mentioned it on my post today and my tulips are also showing their little heads...no little ones...go back...it is a trick! LOL.
we are ahving the same insanity in pennsylvania. one day freezing, the next springliek. crazy winds and rains too. just nuts
glad to knw there wa ssome degree of reconciliation.
No tulips here but the weather has certainly been wacky!...
I take offense to that BACKING UP comment...LOL.
We've had that kind of weather too, although no sign of life in the garden yet. Of course I probably need to actually tend it first. It got pretty out of hand last year.
That looks like my driveway. My mom completely destroyed one side over Christmas.
We have had 60 degree weather here. It has been weird to go out without a jacket and be able to visit the park in the evening without freezing.
Our trees are getting buds and some of our shrubs are turning green. I hope they are ok when the real spring arrives.
It's kind of funny. When I drive out of my driveway I always turn right. As a result, the left side has grassed in and my driveway is now crooked!
I thought flowers with bulbs could just lose their new growth if they prematurely sprout and then start over in spring? Am I wrong?
Wacky weather indeed here in Maine. I hate it. If we are going to live in Maine at least give us a decent REAL winter. I miss skiing and snowball fights, and walking with hubby in a light snowfall. I checked my gardens and nothing is up, but I mulched pretty heavily and I have no idea what's underneath. As to your tulips, I think they will be ok. I have grape hyacynths that always pop back up late fall and they still come back in the spring.
Dude, the weather's gone crazy. If only more people drove Hummers, I could be getting a tan right now.
Glad your bro and dad worked it out as best they could.
Weather has been weird here too... and from what I've read, it's been that way most everywhere.
Tulips that have lost their mind -- that line cracked me up.
Thanks for updating on the situation with your dad and bro. I'm glad they were able to reconcile. It's heartwarming.
