Bigger is okay too.

Over at Larry's blog he's showing off his talents with painting his SAM or as he calls it.... a Super Armored Madcatt. It's a tiny little creature... smaller than a quarter and he's painstakenly painted it with tiny sable brushes. And I must say.... he did an excellent job. I envy anyone who can paint small things with a steady hand. I saw on the news last week a story about Don Joslyn, an artist from Maine who paints miniatures that are 2x3 inches! I was totally taken with his paintings. They are very good and, my God, SO TINY!!

I began to feel the startings of a pity party for myself and my lack of talent in the tiny painting department. After taking a stroll around my house, I started to see things that I had done, grabbed my camera and thought I'd share a few with all of you. Any feedback is appreciated.

The first picture is a small rock that I painted to look like a raccoon. I think it came out fairly good.

I love to paint old signs. This is a Redman Tabacco sign that I did about 10 years ago.

Here's a Butter Cookie sign.

That is so cool, Sheri! All of them are so nice. My mom paints and has her paintings all over the house, and I have been lucky to obtain a couple of my own. She gave me watercolor pencils when I told her my "inner child" wanted to do "art projects" (something i learned in therapy). So she is all gung ho on getting me to paint and stuff. But I haven't opened the book or pencils or anything even though she gave them to me in November. I think she thinks I have latent talent, but I just don't have the patience to make anything nice. Well done, friend!

Those are so good!! My MIL paints rocks and they look amazing. She painted one that looks just like their dog that died. It's crazy.

You can't even tell those are painted - they look like the real thing!

Love them!

I really like the rock.

Wow, those are awesome! My idea of painting is to take a pencil and connect lines into a beautiful stick figure person. Oh, and I can draw a square...

So, yeah, youre rock rocks!

Very nice job on the detail of the racoon - can't believe you were able to get so detailed on such a small canvas.

I used to paint rocks, back when I was 8 and I thought that pet rocks were cool. I even glued googly eyes and yarn hair on... not 1/10 as good as yours though.

Hey! I've seen many of these painted rock coons and other animal at the United Maine Crafters Shows. You do as well if not better than they do. You have talent my friend, keep up with the hobby. I love the signs to. I'm a sucker for those old metal signs. Loved the post...you should do a bunch of this stuff up and sell it. Kisses
