Recipe

I saw this house on the way to Augusta yesterday. In case you were wondering what happened to that hubcap you lost in 1994...... I'm not pointing any fingers at anyone but I do think this guy has quite the collection. I'm just saying. Wow - and I thought my yard was a shithole sometimes.

School has started for many children. Hannah starts on the 5th of Sept and I have not done any school shopping yet. Her new teacher provided us with a list of a few supplies she would like the children to have and we will get them next week. A few new outfits and a new backpack and Hannah will be all set. I dread school shopping when she's older because I'm sure she's going to think anything I pick out is totally lame and uncool. Right now, as long as it's pink in color and doesn't have any frills or buttons, she loves it.

If you haven't tried these pita chips, can I just say - you are missing out on a culinary yumminess? The sea-salt variety is our favorite.

A favorite side salad of ours that is very easy and delicious......

Roast cherry tomatoes by leaving them whole, rolling them in olive oil and place them on a cookie sheet. Place in a preheated 475 degree oven for about 5 minutes, or until they begin to burst their skins.

For the salad you will need:

  • Thinly sliced whole milk mozzarella
  • Roasted cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh basil
  • Olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Sea salt

Place the sliced of mozzarella on a plate. Place the roasted cherry tomatoes on top. Add the basil. Drizzle with a little olive oil. Drip vinegar along the edges of the mozzarella, and sprinkle with sea salt.

Enjoy!!

Now, to end this post, here are some RBOC (random bullets of crap) to remember:

  • Eating pepperoni pizza right before bed can bring on an attack of acid reflux fire in the middle of the night that no amount of Malax, Tums or Rolaids can put out.
  • Anything cooked outdoors on a campfire tastes better than cooked indoors.
  • Laying on the deck of the boat, finding objects in the clouds with your child is very relaxing.
  • Sudoku is most addictive.

My first thought when I saw the picture of the hubcap, Clam Shells! LOL
Can you friggin' imagine? I think my yard looks like a shithole too, but I try my best to keep it looking somewhat nice.

What a post! From hubcaps to an awesome recipe that I will definitely be trying so thanks! An extra thanks for making me feel less embarrassed of my own shithole yard. Renovations are a killer.

That picture rocks! I wonder if they never have to wash any plates, 'cause, like, hey, here's a hubcap. That's what I'd do.

The 5th? How nice, Kid L started yesterday. Getting up when it is dark is killing me.

I know of a hubcap place like that and it looks so crap, but I guess if I ever needed a hubcap for my old car I would be happy these places exist.

Hi Sheri, I have learned the lesson of pizza-flux first hand, it sucks.

I've made that tomato salad before, but I add a half teaspoon of clover honey to the oil and vinegar mix, and a touch of cayenne pepper...mmmm...

thanks for making me feel better about my yard.

That recipe looks fabulous. I just bought some fresh mozzerella, so I'll have to run out for tomatoes... but I will be trying it soon!

Mmm... that salad looks really good! I'll have to try it sometime soon - any reason why I can't use low fat mozzarella?

Also, you are SOOOO right about:
1) Sodoku being addictive
and
2) Anything cooked outdoors tasting better

Tonight is shikabobs on the grill - I marinated the chicken overnight in a Baja Chipotle marinade.

Have a great holiday weekend Sheri!
