The Billy Goat Gruff

Hannah had to bring a potato to school a few weeks ago for a little project they were doing. This is what she brought home today. According the accompanying paper, he is known as Billy Goat Gruff who outsmarts the troll under the bridge and he belongs to ME! He comes complete with a little beard and tail. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the picture to show the tail, but trust me...it's there. His legs each consist of 4 toothpicks taped together, a hoof of black construction paper, then said legs are shoved into the potato. Add some googly eyes, some construction paper eyebrows, 2 pipe cleaner ears (antenna?) and voila! You have a rare mutant, bearded potato who can stand on 3 legs (notice the back left leg raised off the table). I'm sorry to say that pictures is all I will have of this masterpiece, as he was starting to get a little mooshy and his legs can push into him pretty easily, not to mention the dog was eyeing him pretty hungrily.

This is why I wanted to become a Mom in all sense of the word. I wanted to experience funny drawings on my fridge, little catch-all bowls made with clay and tiny hands and macaroni necklaces to rival any pearls. Exquisite Mother's Day cards made from construction paper and a huge amount of love. What Mom wouldn't be thrilled with these beautiful displays of admiration? A child's gifts are so precious....they truly come from the heart. My Hannah has such a big heart.

How cute!!!! ANd what a terrific kid you have... yeah, it doesn't get any better than this. I am clearing room on my fridge right now as I just bought Kate her first crayons. Thanks for sharing such a special moment, Sheri! You are blessed...

Cute potato...I miss those days, now my refrigerator is covered with Graduation Pics that make me teary eyed most days and pics of Prom or Winter Carnival. Bre did give me a hand written b'day card this year with a Poem that she had written, that was on the fridge for several months and now it is behind one of her pictures to be found unexpectedly some day. There is stuff behind lots of pictures in my house. I hope that whoever finds those treasures smiles.

Ah, I know what you mean. I haven't had that experience really yet. My oldest is just now getting to the stage of drawing pictures just for me. And I love it. All of it.
